Wilbur Raymond Pennington, 85, of Johnston, South Carolina, passed peacefully in his home on February 21, 2022. Mr. Pennington was born in Clermont, Florida to the late Mary Judy. He served in the Florida National Guard and moved to Johnston, South Carolina in 1976. Mr. Pennington retired from the Johnston Sawmill. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of Johnston First Baptist Church. Mr. Pennington faithfully served at the Ridge Baptist Association for many years. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. Pennington was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Aretta Hart Pennington. Surviving are his daughters Debbie Pennington; Peggy Conrad; and granddaughter Shannon Conrad. Memorials may be made to Ridge Baptist Association Disaster Relief Building Fund, P.O. Box 158, Monetta, SC 29105. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mercantile Funeral Home-Johnston Chapel. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
