Wayne Lewis Wates, 73 of Aiken, SC entered into rest on December 10, 2025.

Wayne was born in Augusta, Ga as the son of the late Christine and Raymond Lewis Wates. Wayne retired from retail sales and was employed by Hatcher Plumbing. He was of the Baptist faith.

Wayne is survived by his three children Shane Wates (Alison), Jonathan "Bubba" Wates (Stephanie), Raymond Colton Wates, four grandchildren Bailey Wates, Darien Dorn, Wyatt Wates, Madison Wates, one great grandson Carter Lewis Charlton.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm, Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, 801 Columbia Rd. Edgefield, SC. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 598 Red Hill Rd. Edgefield, SC.
