Thomas Raymond Turner, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on July 4, 1942, in Edgefield, South Carolina, Thomas’s life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and enduring love for his family and community.
Thomas was the cherished son of the late Alice Proctor Turner and John Calvin Turner. Throughout his early years in Edgefield, Thomas developed a deep connection to his hometown and its people—a loyalty and warmth that he shared with all those who knew him.
A proud veteran, Thomas served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. His military service was an important chapter in his life, and he carried the values of duty, and honor throughout the years that followed.
Thomas dedicated much of his career to the Graniteville Company, where he retired after years of service. Never one to sit idle, he went on to continue serving his community by working for the Graniteville Water Department. His colleagues respected him for his commitment, work ethic, and kindness.
Thomas’s greatest joy was found in the company of his family. He is remembered by his son, Gerald Turner; his step-daughter, Sherry Brown and her husband Barry, his step-son, Daniel Timothy Hoover. He shared a lifelong bond with his sister, Shirley Phillips, whose presence was a constant source of comfort and happiness. The many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins who survive Thomas will forever remember his love and guidance. Above all, he held his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren close to his heart, cherishing every moment spent together.
Thomas is preceded in death by his dear wife, Connie Turner, as well as his mother, Alice Proctor Turner, and his father, John Calvin Turner. Their memories, along with Thomas’s, remain everlasting for all who mourn his passing yet celebrate his life.
