Thomas Arthur "Tom" Korrek

Thomas Arthur "Tom" Korrek, born on October 15, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan as the son of the late Josephine Korrek and Ray Korrek. Tom peacefully passed away on March 3, 2026, in Greenwood, South Carolina, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, stories, and cherished memories.

Tom, a proud member of the Army National Guard, demonstrated dedication and service to his country. Having moved to Edgefield at the age of 15 he received his education at Edgefield High School. His professional journey was notable; he retired twice, first from Crest Manufacturing and then from Heritage Hardware at the age of 90, showcasing his work ethic and commitment to his career.

Known for his engaging personality, Tom had a talent for storytelling and connected effortlessly with those around him. He was refreshingly upfront and honest in sharing his opinions, traits that endeared him to friends and family alike. He had a spirited passion for sports, particularly enjoying Clemson football games and cheering for the Atlanta Braves, which brought him much joy over the years.

Tom's proudest accomplishment was his enduring marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Ouzts Korrek, with whom he shared 71 wonderful years. Together, they cultivated a loving family, including their son Ken Korrek. Tom's family also includes his sister, Marilyn Smith (Louie), five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

He is predeceased by his son, Michael Korrek; and three grandsons: Zeb Blackledge, Jamie Korrek, and Chris Korrek. While he will be deeply missed by those who loved him, his legacy and the impact he had on their lives will endure, treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
