Smith Edgefield, SC Peggy Ayers Smith, 88, wife of the late Travis Grant Smith died Tuesday February 9, 2016 in Columbia, SC. Graveside services will be held Friday February 12, 2016 at 3 PM at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Edgefield, SC. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Hart County GA. She was retired as a supervisor from Riegel Textile after 29 years and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Cleola Tompkins Bible Study Group. Survivors include 2 sons, Jerry Travis (Ann) Smith of Aiken, SC and William (Bill) Grant (Gloria) Smith of Prosperity, SC; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister Betty Seymour of Hartwell, Ga., a brother Rollin Ayers of Snellville, Ga. She was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Smith Bledsoe; brothers, Curtis Ayers and Edward Ayers; sisters Mary Jo Bowen, Patsy Sanford and Jackie Hilley.
