Mary Ouzts Korrek, a devoted and loving homemaker, passed away on April 5, 2026, in her hometown of Edgefield, South Carolina. Born on April 4, 1936, in Edgefield, Mary’s life was a testament to dedication and care, deeply rooted in the community she cherished as she was a lifelong member of Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church.
Mary was born to the late Joseph Earle Ouzts, Sr. and Viola Fox Ouzts. She was surrounded by a large family, including her many siblings: brothers Earle Ouzts Jr., Kermit Ouzts, and sisters Ida Bryan, Ouida Williamson, Jennie Wilson, Johnnie Murrell, Lucille Padgett, and June Moffett who have all preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage that endured a happy seventy-one years together to Thomas A. Korrek, who preceded her in death. Together, they raised their family with love and steadfast support. Mary is survived by her son Ken Korrek; her grandson James Blackledge; and five great-grandchildren. She also mourned the loss of her son Michael Korrek, and grandchildren Zeb Blackledge, Jamie Korrek, and Chris Korrek.
A Graveside Service for Mary and Tom will be held on April 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church Cemetery located at 1194 Meeting Street Road, Edgefield, SC 29824. Family, friends, and all who knew Mary and Tom are invited to pay their respects and honor their memory.
In recognition of Mary’s lasting legacy and in support of the community she loved, memorials may be made to the Little Stevens Creek Cemetery Fund, care of Deborah Logue, 1126 Hwy 378 East, Edgefield, SC 29824.
Mary Ouzts Korrek’s life was one of quiet strength and enduring love. Her commitment to her family and community leaves a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and remembered with great affection and respect.
