Mrs. Marlene Jordan Marsh, 87, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at Charter Augusta Gardens.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Harmony Methodist Church Cemetery in Johnston, S.C., with Pastor David Carroll officiating. The service will be attended by immediate family.
Mrs. Marlene, a native of Augusta, Ga., retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, Uptown Division, in 1999. According to her children, she was a good citizen who proudly displayed the American flag.
She graduated from Putnam County High School and attended Mercer University. After marrying and raising three daughters, she continued to pursue her education and career. She attended Augusta College and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing (BSRN).
Her family said that she sang in the church choir, was an excellent cook, had a “green thumb,” and enjoyed wildlife, the Appalachian Mountains, the “Old West,” dancing, and music. She was a member of the Woodbridge Homeowners Association (HOA) neighborhood since 1976.
Marlene is survived by her daughters, Pam M. Hargrove; Bonnie M. Whittle (Clay N. Whittle); and Jennifer M. Oellerich; her brother, Dr. Denny Jordan, DVM; her sister, Julia Anne Hardy; six grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by William S. Marsh Jr., her former husband; her father, Dr. Charles G. Jordan; and her mother, Mahlena Herlong Padgett Jordan, BSRN.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marlene’s honor to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta, Ga.; First Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga.; Harmony Methodist Church in Johnston, S.C.; or to the church of your choice.
