Kelvin Eston
Johnson
Aug 9, 1963 — Jul 10, 2026
Kelvin Eston Johnson “KJ”, 62, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1963, in Blountstown, Florida, to Rodney Eston and Minnie Hall Johnson. He grew up in Kinard, Florida, and attended Blountstown High School, where he was affectionately called “Boom Boom” by his classmates. He enjoyed playing on the football team and developed a lifelong passion for watching and attending all types of sporting events, especially the Florida State Seminoles. In later years, due to declining health, he could often be found keeping up with team sports on his iPad, which was always by his side to deliver countless hours of sports and gaming.
After high school, he worked as a title abstractor at Chipola Abstract & Land Title in Marianna and Stuart Title of Tallahassee. He then built a career with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office in Tallahassee before accepting a position with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Edgefield, South Carolina, where he called home for nearly 30 years. He spent his life devoted to the Lord, his family, and his career before retiring due to kidney failure.
Despite many health challenges, KJ never wavered or doubted his faith in the Lord. He continuously walked by faith and trusted God wholeheartedly, always maintaining a positive attitude that was truly a testament to others. He was a “gentle giant” loved by all who knew him. We will truly miss KJ, who may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
Kelvin was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Eston Johnson; paternal grandparents, William Monroe Johnson and Gracie Floyd Tucker Johnson; maternal grandparents, Artie J. Hall and Louise Elizabeth Womack Hall; his aunt, Diane J. Skipper (Gerald); and three uncles, Jack Langham, Doyal Hall, and Maynard J. Hall (Dewana).
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Sealey Johnson; his son, Colton Chase Johnson; his mother, Minnie Hall Johnson; his brother, Rodney Stephen Johnson; and his aunts, Janice J. Langham and Wanda J. Skipper (Johnny). He is also survived by his uncles, Leonard J. Hall (Diane), and J. D. Hall (Ruth), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown, Florida. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM CT, and the funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM CT.
