Juanita Byrd Bartley, born on August 2, 1934, in Clearwater, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. Juanita was loved deeply by her family and her church family. Juanita lived a life marked by faith, serving others, and her deep love for Jesus Christ.
Juanita was the cherished daughter of Julian Oswald Byrd and Addie Canfield Byrd, both of whom predeceased her. She was shaped by the faith of her Mother.
Juanita was the pianist, a Sunday school teacher and had a great passion for missions. Juanita worked as a medical assistant at Edgefield Medical Clinic for over twenty-five years. Her love and compassion was evident with everyone she came in contact with.
Juanita was united in marriage to John Robert Bartley, with whom she shared many cherished years before his passing. Their union was a cornerstone of her life, filled with family and enduring love as they grew their strong family together.
She is survived by her three sons: John "Rob" Bartley Jr., Julian O’Neil Bartley, and Dennis "Hyte" Bartley. Their wives Pamela, Judy, and Sharon also mourn her passing and honor the wisdom, strength, faith and kindness Juanita extended to each of them. Her legacy lives on in the values she imparted to her family and in the warm memories they hold dear. Juanita will be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She will also be remembered forever for her caramel cake.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Gilgal Baptist Church, located at 335 Gilgal Road, Edgefield, SC 29824. A funeral service will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m., offering all who loved Juanita an opportunity to celebrate her life and legacy.
Juanita Byrd Bartley’s life was characterized by faith, dedication, compassion, and integrity. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and her memory will continue to be cherished.
