Joyce Reynolds, a beloved figure in her community and an esteemed member of the Norfolk Southern Railroad, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Trenton, South Carolina. Born on May 19, 1936, in Haleyondale, Georgia, Joyce lived a life characterized by dedication, hard work, and a profound commitment to her family and faith.
As an Agent Operator with Norfolk Southern Railroad, Joyce was known for her diligence and professionalism, earning the respect of her colleagues and those she served throughout her career. Her unwavering commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and her involvement in her local church.
Joyce was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she found strength and community among her fellow congregants. Her faith played a significant role in her life, guiding her actions and providing her with the resilience she displayed throughout both the joyful and challenging moments she encountered.
She was a loving mother to her daughter, Elaine R. Mikell and son, Arthur Reynolds, who, along with his wife JoAnna, cherished their mother dearly. Joyce also took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Vernon Reynolds, nurturing the bond they shared. Her siblings, including her brother Marlin Smith ( Patricia) and sister-in-law Lana Smith, remained close to her as well, surrounded by numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their aunt's loving presence in their lives.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William A. "Billy" Reynolds, whose memory remained a source of comfort for her. She was also reunited with her parents, the late Marvis Elaine Gantt Smith and Eddie Lee Smith, as well as her brother Wade Smith and her son-in-law Dave Mikell.
