John Odell Rikard, Jr. 82, husband of Anne Leary Rikard of Republican Rd., Clarks Hill, SC entered into rest Thursday, June 21, 2018. Services will be 3 PM Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. Mr. Rikard was born in Barnwell, SC and was the son of the late John Odell, Sr., and Grace Clark Rikard. He attended Carlisle Military School and the Citadel. He served in the National Guard, and the US Navy on destroyers. He was a member of Concordia Masonic Lodge # 50 where he just received his 40-year pin, a member of Hejaz Shrine and the Shrine Hillbillies, he also did volunteer work for the VFW, and the American Legion where he had a lifetime membership. He served as Mayor of Trenton, SC for 16 years and a member of the Trenton Fire Department. Mr. Rikard retired as the Edgefield Co. Veterans Affairs Service Officer and was a member of Republican Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ellen (James) Courtney, and Sally (Bucky) Faust; five grandchildren, Harriett-Graham Courtney, Harrison (Britnee) Courtney, Jordan Faust, Bea Faust, and Addison Faust; one sister, Linda Rikard of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Vann Rikard. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
