Retired Dept. of Natural Resources Mr. John Wesley (Jake) Cheatham, Sr., 85, husband of 65 years to Sara Godbee Cheatham, died on Thursday September 12, 2013 at Edgefield County Hospital. Graveside Services will be held Sunday September 15, 2013 at 2 P.M. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield. Mr. Cheatham was a native of Edgefield, S.C. and was the son of the late Aldrich and Cornelia Prescott Cheatham. Mr. Cheatham was a Retired Captain with 36 years service with the Department of Natural Resources. He was retired from the National Guard with 20 years service. He was a member of the Edgefield First Baptist Church, A Mason, and was an avid Gamecock Fan. Survivors include his wife, Children- Ginny (Don) North, Wendi (Richard) Shaffer, John (Debbie) Cheatham, Bill (Charlotte) Cheatham; 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
