Jewel Smith Seawright, 95, of Edgefield, SC, wife of the late Carol Seawright, entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2025.

Jewel was born in Edgefield and was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Anna West. She graduated from Edgefield High School and Columbia Commercial College. She had a long and respected career in banking before retiring from Wells Fargo of Edgefield.

A devoted and lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, Jewel served in many roles, most notably as church clerk for forty-one years. Her commitment to faith and community was matched only by her devotion to her family. In retirement, she poured her love into caring for her six grandchildren, delighting in preparing Sunday dinners, and hosting holiday gatherings, especially Christmas Eve celebrations. Jewel will be remembered for her caring and generous spirit.

She is survived by her loving children: Mary Wade, Judy Hope (Marion "Bubba"), John Seawright (Charlotte Ann), and Lynn Visbisky; six grandchildren: Anna Sumner (Grayson), Graham Hope, James Seawright (Macey), Grace Gregory (Aaron), John and Caroline Visbisky; and two great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Margaret Ellis Sumner. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Anna Mae Holmes, Josephine Rankin, H. Henry Smith, John William Smith, and Benjamin Smith.

The Family will receive guests at the Visitation on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, 801 Columbia Rd., Edgefield, SC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church, 1843 SC Highway 23 West, Edgefield, SC, with Pastor Phillip Howle officiating.
