IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Caro Padget
Miller
January 18, 1926 – September 14, 2025
Jean Caro Padget Miller
January 18, 1926 – September 14, 2025
Jean Caro Padget Miller joined the heavenly angel choir to sing praises to her Savior on September 14, 2025.
Born in Saluda, South Carolina, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Hite Miller, Sr., her son, Ernest Hite Miller, Jr. (Annette), her son-in-law W. Cal Cassels, her parents, Henry Fletcher Padget and Marion Olive Truluck Padget, her brother, Henry Fletcher Padget, and her sister, Nancy Padget Reynolds.
Jean attended Coker College and majored in Education with an emphasis in History and Voice. After graduating from Coker College, she accepted a position as a high school history teacher in Edgefield, SC where she met her beloved husband of 52 years. They moved to Trenton, SC where they raised their three children.
Jean was an active member of Trenton Methodist Church, Spartanburg Methodist Church and Shandon Methodist Church. In each of these churches she sang in the choir, belonged to the Women's groups, and supported each church in various outreach programs.
She was dedicated to her many students and taught children in elementary and high school. She also served as the Title 1 Curriculum Director for Edgefield County Schools until her retirement.
Jean found joy in reading, swimming, and playing bridge, but most of all in the company of her beloved family. She shared her angelic voice at countless weddings, funerals, and church services, touching many hearts with her gift. During her years at Coker College, she was crowned a beauty queen each year she attended. Blessed with both outward and inward beauty, Jean lived her life as a true example of unconditional love, elegance, and grace.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Caro Miller Cassels of Trenton, SC, and her son, Edward Clayton Miller (Kim) of Rocky Face, GA. Her grandchildren include: Jeanne Caro Cassels, Trenton, SC; Meredith Miller Cassels Hagan (Greg), Aiken, SC; Andrew Smith Miller (Laura), Peachtree Corners, GA; Grant Edward Miller (Kacie), Dallas, TX; Bryan Clayton Miller (Emily), Dallas, TX; William Chase Miller (Blair), Dalton, GA; Ernest Hite Miller III and Cameron Alexander Miller, Columbia, SC, and eight great-grandchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Edgefield County Hospital staff for their many years of dedicated care, compassion and support.
