Jan Christine Jones, known fondly to many as Chris, departed this life on May 5, 2026, in Edgefield, South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy defined by compassion, dedication, and a commitment to the well-being of others. Born on March 26, 1940, in Stamps, Arkansas, Jan’s journey through life was marked by a profound devotion to family therapy and social work, where her efforts touched countless lives.

 In her career as a family therapist and social worker, Jan embraced both empathy and insight, offering healing and guidance during times of struggle. Her gentle spirit and skilled understanding of human relationships brought solace and strength to those she served, imprinting her influence upon the hearts of many.

 Jan’s personal life was richly blessed with her cherished family, which includes her devoted husband Wiley E. Jones Jr., her loving presence was a guiding light for her daughters—Cindy Lundhagen, Dana Lundhagen, and Lynn Lundhagen—each carrying forward the values instilled by their mother’s grace and wisdom. Among her treasured family was also her granddaughter, Corey N. Glenn, whose light added new joy and promise to Jan’s enduring legacy. Complementing this close-knit circle was Jan’s sister, Barbara Hurst.

 Jan was predeceased by her parents, Lillie F. Drake and Olen L. Drake and sister Vennie J. Files. Their foundational love laid the groundwork for Jan’s own remarkable journey—a testament to the enduring strength of family ties across generations.

 As we prepare to bid farewell to Jan, her memory will be honored at a graveside service to be held on May 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery, located at 1339 Columbia Road, Johnston, South Carolina 29832. It is here that those who loved her will gather to celebrate a life beautifully lived.
