Helen Gayle Alverson Willis, 81, wife of the late William R. Willis of McCormick, SC passed away January 24, 2026, at Self Regional Hospital.

 Gayle was born in McCormick, SC to the late Posey and Dodell Alverson. She was a lifelong resident of McCormick. She was employed by Milliken Textiles Mill as a spinner for many years. Gayle was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Her passion was raising her children and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 Gayle is survived by children Wanda Willis Clark (Tim), William D. “Bo” Willis (Wendy), Thomas O’Neal Willis (Toye). Grandchildren Richard Lewis IV (Jennifer), Matthew Lewis (Courtney), Langley Willis (Nicole), Addy Willis Sanders (Jamie) and Bradley Willis. Great grandchildren Destiny Hutto, Dawson Lewis, Emma Lewis, Hayden Lindsey, Willow Lawton. Great-great grandchildren Wyatt and Willow Hutto. Her loyal companion Midas. She was preceded in death by her husband William Raymond Willis and one son Fred Walsh Willis.

 A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, PO Box 345 McCormick, SC 29835. The family would like to give special thanks to care giver Lori Holiday.
