Helen Berthold Cardoza Fitzgerald, 86, of Red Oak Grove Rd., Modoc, SC entered into rest on Friday, May 15, 2020. A Service will be held at a later date in Newport, R.I. Ms. Fitzgerald was born in Newport, R.I. and was the daughter of the late Herman and Lois Smith Berthold. She was retired from the Marriott Corp. She lived most of her life in Newport, RI, then enjoyed the last six years of her life living with family in SC. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Lynn (Steven) Porter, Deborah Lee Cardoza; two sons, Stephen James Cardoza, and David Kenneth Cardoza; one sister, Margery E. Silvia of Middletown, RI; five grandchildren, Jennifer Denton, Christopher Porter, Daniel Cardoza, Logan Cardoza, and Stephen William Cardoza; two great grandchildren, Skylar Roan and Yioryios Sezenias. She was predeceased by a brother, George Berthold and four sisters, Lee Barker, Clara Tasker, Barbara Boscia, and Lois Annie Berthold. Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
