Heyward "Edsel" Thomas, 82 husband of the late Darlene Perry Thomas of Johnston, SC entered into rest on September 15, 2025.

Edsel was born as the son of the late Mary and Heyward Thomas. Edsel was born a native to Johnston, South Carolina and was a retired farmer. He was the proud owner of Thomas Produce of Johnston where he along with his Nephew Jonah Quarles, loved to operate and meet people to talk to on a daily basis. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years, and he was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Johnston, SC.

Edsel is survived by his son Kelly Thomas, stepdaughter Julie Wadford (Charles), five grandchildren Cody and Daniel Wadford, Brandon, Chase and Rylee Thomas, one great grandchild Jon Waylon McMakin and one daughter in law Rhonda Thomas. Predeceased by one son Gregg Thomas, daughter in law Jonie Thomas and grandson Austin McMakin.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, 1186 Mt. Calvary Rd. Johnston, S.C. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
