Gloria Hartley Adams, born on January 26, 1943, in Augusta, Georgia, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Edgefield County. She was a beloved member of her community and exemplified what it meant to be a loyal friend, devoted coworker, church member, neighbor, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Gloria dedicated a significant part of her life to her career at Gorham Bronze, from which she retired after many years of service. Those who knew her will remember her for her unwavering kindness and the deep bonds she formed throughout her work life.
Family and gardening were her passions, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones more than anything. Gloria was a loving mother to her son Ronald "Wayne" Adams and his wife Meg of Prosperity, SC, and her son Timothy "Mark" Adams and his wife Miranda of Trenton, SC. Her daughter, Rhonda Runion and her husband Carl of Graysville, TN., brother Jeffrey Hartley of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., whom also shared many cherished memories with her. In addition to her children, she delighted in being a grandmother to five grandchildren and a great-grandmother to one precious great-grandson.
Gloria's legacy is also marked by the love and loss of those who predeceased her including her mother Evelyn Ready Hartley, father James Drayton Hartley, and her husband of 47 years, Ronald Lee Adams. She was further preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Daniel, and two sisters, Jacqueline Rowe and Patricia McFerrin.
A visitation to honor Gloria’s life will be held on March 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, located at 801 Columbia Rd, Edgefield, SC 29824. A graveside service will take place the following day, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery, 1339 Columbia Road, Johnston, SC 29832.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Edgefield County Hospital for their exceptional kindness and professionalism during Gloria’s stay there. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
