George Alfred Barton, Jr., 87, of Johnston, SC entered into rest on Saturday, March 1, 2025. George is survived by his brothers, John Barton, Harry Barton, Pat Barton (Connie); his sisters, Marian Richardson and Rita Copeland; his lifelong friend, Larry Moore; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Skeeter.

George was born in Alexandria, Indiana. He was the son of the late Lillian "Ren" and George A. Barton, Sr. George attended St. Mary's Catholic School and was a 1956 graduate of Alexandria High School. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Seminary and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. George retired from Lowes, where he was a department supervisor. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir.

George previously had a farm, where he enjoyed caring for his horses and chickens. He was a skilled gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was often seen around town, walking his dog, Lulu, and visiting with friends and neighbors.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Barton; and sisters Mariann Barton and Shirley Ridenour.

Funeral Services will be held March 13, 2025, at 11:00am at St. William Catholic Church, 116 St. William's Church Road
