Retired Edgefield County Water Dept. Mr. Gene Anthony Covar, 61, husband of Donna Quattlebaum Covar, of Edgefield Hwy, died Monday February 13, 2012 in Augusta. Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 15, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield. Mr. Covar was born in Aiken County and was a member of Living word Fellowship. He was retired Supervisor with the Edgefield County Water and Sewer Authority. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a marksman and medic helping others in Hospitals. Survivors include his wife, 1 daughter- Victoria Covar Cooper, 1 Son- Andrew (Sunny) Covar; 2 Step-daughters- Bridgett Ruiz, and Amanda Aiken; 1 Step-son- Brent Aiken; 2 Brothers- Mike and Tim Covar, and 6 Grandchildren. The family is at the home of his son on Buncombe St. in Edgefield and will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
