Frances Johnson Riggs

 Mrs. Frances Johnson Riggs, 83 wife of the late Jerry J. Riggs, Sr. of Edgefield entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2026.

 Frances was born in Edgefield, SC at home of the late Rufus M. and Helen P. Johnson.

 After having worked for twenty-five years Frances retired from Strom Thurmond High School cafeteria. She enjoyed gardening, being outside and growing vegetables. She loved riding her lawnmower, even if the grass didn’t need mowing. She had happiness with her several fur babies that she loved very much. There was likely not a day in her life where she did not have a cat or a dog. Many of her happiest times and special love would be for her grandsons. Frances was a graduate of Edgefield High School and a member of Red Hill Baptist Church for many years. A life well lived yet a simple life and she enjoyed all of the simple things.

 She also enjoyed annual trips to Ireland with her sister Betty experiencing simple life in such a beautiful country with lots of laughs, of course. Frances was a devoted U.S. Air Force wife and a mother having served alongside her husband by showing resilience and sacrifice within the military lifestyle. She was well known for her kindness and beautiful genuineness, always willing to help others. She always led with love and was an inspiration to many.

 Frances is survived by her two daughters Terri Deal (Jimmy) and Shay Riggs, two grandsons Dakota Riggs and Chase Riggs. Predeceased by her son Jerry J. Riggs Jr., her brother William Johnson and sister Betty J. Hinkle.

 The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, 801 Columbia Rd. Edgefield, SC. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 598 Red Hill Rd. Edgefield, SC.
