Ella Rae Kirkland Wise, 88, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, in Edgefield, South Carolina. Born in Saluda, South Carolina on July 1, 1937, Rae lived an abundant life fulfilled by her love for family and friends; it was the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. As a teller in the banking business, Rae's career reflected her commitment to service and community, offering a warm and welcoming presence to those who knew her professionally.

A lover of travel, shopping, gardening, and dancing, Rae embraced life lightheartedly with humor that brought joy to those around her. Gardening was a passion that not only blossomed in her personal space— she expressed her love of the hobby through her involvement with the Trenton Garden Club, where she nurtured both plants and friendships. She also spent many years caring for her late husband’s farm and working at her roadside stand, which sold the freshest peaches and strawberries. On Friday nights she could be found dancing at the Carolina Jamboree in North Augusta.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading and watching her favorite daytime television soap operas. During her time living in Florida, she also worked for Publix Supermarkets, competed in a local women's bowling league, and spent 20 years enjoying her beautiful life by the beach. Never knowing a dull moment, her daughter lovingly joked that Rae's middle name should have been "Go" since she was always on the move!

Furthermore, her faith was a guiding light throughout her life which helped cultivate meaningful relationships that she treasured. Easter and Christmas were cherished annually, and her holiday decor was defined by angels adorned in gold and white. From cakes to casseroles, she was fond of cooking and hosting her loved ones during the most special time of year.

Ella Rae Kirkland Wise is survived by her beloved daughter, Wanda Rae Dorsey, and son-in-law, Clayton Dorsey, as well as her precious granddaughter, Raena Dorsey. Her family carries with them the love and kindness she shared so generously. Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Wise, her mother, Sally Maude Kitchens Kirkland, and her father, Johnny Kirkland. Her passing leaves a legacy of resilience, independence, love, and laughter. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will forever cherish their fond memories of Ella Rae.
