Mrs. Elizabeth Barber Steadman, age 89, beloved wife of the late Dr. Richard Anderson Steadman, Sr. went home to be with her Lord on July 12, 2020. Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery, 1305 Columbia Rd., Johnston, SC 29832. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be observed and facial masks are requested. Mrs. Steadman was a native of Fairfax, SC. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas Porter Barber, Sr and Ollie Stallings Barber and brother, Thomas P. Barber, Jr... She graduated from Limestone College and after marriage, she and Dick spent most of their years in Johnston, SC., before moving to North Augusta. She was a full-time mother and homemaker with occasional substitute teaching. Previously an active member of Johnston UMC, she was a currant member of Grace UMC and the Stillwater Sunday School Class in North Augusta. Over the years she served in many capacities such as Lay speaker, S.S. teacher and circle leader. She was also involved in the garden club and a volunteer for University Hospital. She is survived by her loving children, Richard A. Steadman, Jr. (Sarah), Mark S. Steadman (Margie), Laura S. Barnett (Ben), and Mary Louise S. Smith (Kenneth): Grandchildren, Elizabeth Steadman Talley (Michael), Richard A. Steadman lll (Lindsey), Sarah Anne Steadman Rhodes (Aubrey), Laura Marie Steadman, Mark S. Steadman, Jr. (Malorie), Erin Barnett Anderson (Daniel), Kathryn L. Barnett, Briggs A. Smith, David A. Smith and Graham S. Smith: Great Grandchildren, Ransom, Mercy and Liam Anderson, Matthew and John Talley. Grandchildren by marriage: Trey Alexander (Deanna), Tara Steger (Chris), and Justin Alexander (Lindsey). Great Grandchildren, Heather Reese Alexander, and Layton Alexander. Survivors also include brother George H. Barber, Sr. and sister, Louise B. Fulmer, and brother-in-law, Joe Watson, Sr. and many nieces and nephews.
