In Loving Memory of Dorothy Hight
October 1, 1942 – January 19, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Hight, who left this world to be with the Lord on the evening of January 19, 2025. Dorothy was born on October 1, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN, and spent her life as a devoted wife, loving mother, and selfless servant to her family and community.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Charles Hight and her three sons: Eddie Townsend (wife Starla), Mike Townsend (wife Debra), and Sean Dwyer (wife Roxanne). Dorothy's love also extended to her brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Vandagriff, and her nine beloved grandchildren: Amber, Ashley, Shayna, Evan, Sidney, Ethan, Everly, Brett, and Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Mozelle and Buford Vandagriff, and her sister, Hazel Hale.
A faithful child of God, Dorothy lived her life with unwavering faith, love, and compassion. Her gentle spirit, selflessness, and commitment to serving others made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She found joy in nurturing her family and was an active and dedicated member of the Twin City Church of Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she demonstrated the love of Christ in everything she did.
Dorothy's legacy is one of kindness, warmth, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. While her presence will be greatly missed, her love and the lessons she imparted will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.
A memorial for Dorothy will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 8 at the Twin City Church of Christ, in Batesburg-Leesville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to her church Twin City Church of Christ in Batesburg-Leesville, SC, in her memory.
May Dorothy's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
