Donald H. McPherson, age 84, husband of the late Iris Dawn McPherson, entered into rest on Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was born in Lancaster, South Carolina and was the son of the late Elijah and Ruth McPherson, also of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Ted Walker Reeves.

He enjoyed being outdoors, had a profound soft spot for any animal, and would always entertain an old western cowboy movie. After serving as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy, he made the most of his career, ultimately retiring from both Duke Power and Norfolk Southern Railway.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Shirley Smith of Fort Lawn, his niece Donna Strickland, as well as his great nephew and multiple great nieces, and many friends who loved him dearly.

A Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, 801 Columbia Rd. Edgefield, SC 29824 with service to follow at 2:00pm.
