Diane Shanks Hansen, 71, of Edgefield, South Carolina passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 30th, 2024.

Diane was raised in North Augusta as the second of four children of Lloyd and Shirley Shanks. She received a Degree in Radiology from The Medical College Of Georgia and worked in the radiology department at hospitals in Augusta, Georgia, Savannah, Georgia and Brunswick, Georgia. She left the medical field and moved to Florida, living on a sailboat and working as a nail technician. She eventually settled in Palm Beach Gardens where she lived until the passing of her husband. She then made Edgefield her home to be closer to her family. She attended Edgefield First Baptist and always had a very strong faith in God. She loved nature and animals, especially horses, but most of all she loved her family. She always had an optimistic outlook and brought smiles to her friends in Edgefield and Florida.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Norman Hansen, and her mother Shirley Shanks. She is survived by her father Lloyd Shanks of North Augusta, her brother Randy Moore of Kite, Georgia, her sister Nancy Learnard of Graniteville, South Carolina, her brother Max Shanks (Jeannie) of Edgefield, South Carolina, nieces Rhonda Moore, Kimberly Paradise (Michael), Meredith Fulton (Brent), and four great-nephews.

A service for Diane will be announced at a later date and will be respectfully handled by Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
