Daniel Roper Day III

After a prolonged hospital stay, Daniel Roper Day III of Trenton, SC, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, leaving behind a much-beloved and grieving family.

Danny was born on March 5, 1946, and was married to his high school sweetheart, Ann Smith Day, for 58 years. He was the owner of Day’s Greenhouses in Trenton, SC.

He was predeceased by his father, Daniel Roper Day Jr.; his mother, Alma Leland Day; and his beloved sister, Karen Lee Day.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Smith Day; daughter, Amelia (Ame) D. Holmes (Sherwood) of Trenton, SC; son, Daniel Pierce Day (Krissee) of Pawleys Island, SC; four grandchildren, Addison Day, Smith Day, Joshua Holmes, and TJ Holmes; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends from childhood, high school, college, and throughout his life.

Danny was a loving husband and father, successful businessman, farmer, avid sportsman, and leader in his community. He served on the Edgefield County Water and Sewer Authority and was a cradle member of Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Trenton, SC.

He received an associate’s degree from Georgia Military School and a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. He was a former member of the Ridge Agricultural Club, where he enjoyed many long and cherished friendships, and the Johnston Sertoma Club. His circle of friends included his Wednesday card group, his breakfast buddies at the local Gas Pro, and his many hunting and fishing companions.

The best days of Danny’s life were spent in a deer stand; fishing in any lake, stream, or river; listening to the tall tales of his colorful friends; sitting on a beach with his favorite Heineken; being present in the lives of his children and grandchildren; or riding his beloved antique John Deere tractor while planting his infamous garden.

Danny lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by family, friends, faith, and the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Trenton, SC, Saturday, September 19,2026 at 11:00am, with a reception following the service in the parish hall.
