Mr. Charles Moody Hight passed away on July 2, 2025, in Edgefield, SC.

Charles was born in Athens, West Virginia on September 21, 1943. He graduated from Athens High School in Athens, WV and fully retired from the US Military serving in the Army, Airforce and Civil Service Weather Division. Charles continued working after moving to Johnston at the NWTF and as a farmer.

Charles was a loyal friend who found joy caring for his cows, helping neighbors, the view from his porch and a good cup of coffee, driving to town to personally visit those who helped him in any way and sharing the fruits of his labor.

Friends remember him as stubborn, kind and willing to mentor and share his knowledge. Mostly, he is remembered for his dedication and loving care of his beloved wife Dorothy.

Charles is survived by his sister Elizabeth Angelici (Bob) of Aimes, Iowa, sister-in-law Lucy Hight and several nieces & nephews. Stepsons Edward Townsend (Starla), Michael Townsend (Debra) and Sean Dwyer (Roxanne) and their children: Amber, Ashley, Shayna, Evan, Sidney, Ethan, Everly, Brett and Lee.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Vandagriff Hight, his parents Katherine Redmond and John Clownie Hight and four siblings Mary Etta Hight, Francis Kahle, Walter Hight and Richard Hight.
