Obituary

Benjamin C. Padgett, known as B. C. Padgett to his friends and family, a respected member of the community and a dedicated retiree of the Graniteville Company, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on January 1, 1943, in Johnston, South Carolina, Mr. Padgett lived a full and meaningful life marked by steadfast commitment to his family, faith, and work.

A longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church in Edgefield, South Carolina, Mr. Padgett's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He faithfully served his church family and was held in great esteem by those who knew him. His connection to Antioch Baptist was a source of comfort and strength throughout his years.

Mr. Padgett is survived by his son, Brad Padgett, and daughter-in-law Teresa; his beloved grandchildren, Collin, Madison, Margaret May, Molly, and Bradley Jr.; as well as seven great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy. He is also survived by his brother, Doc Padgett, who shared in the joys and challenges of life with him. The love and memories he leaves behind among his family members are profound and enduring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly McGee Padgett; his son, Todd Padgett; and his parents, Colie and Martha Gregory Padgett. These loved ones now rest peacefully alongside him.

A graveside service to honor and remember B. C. Padgett will be held on April 13, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church, located at 1843 Hwy. 23 W., Edgefield, SC 29824. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Mr. Padgett are invited to gather and pay their respects. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. 

B. C. Padgett’s life story is one of dedication, love, and quiet strength. His contributions to his community and family endure as a testament to a life well-lived. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
